You Can Read

– PAUSING Within Sentences –

When you have to PAUSE within sentences (you always have to pause at the end of sentences):

  1. When you have a SECOND NAME that is not needed:
    • Our teacher, Miss Jones, is kind.
    • My mother, a nurse, works at a hospital.

  2. When you have a long word-group that is not needed:
    • Our teacher, who is kind, is still stern.
    • My mother, who is a nurse, works at a hospital.
Remember the commas ( , ) indicate where you usually pause.
