All of this happened in a very short time. When I arrive in London Lady Huntington was in her estate in South Whales. So I wrote her a letter notifying her of our safe arrival. She then made plans for me to visit with her.
However, shortly thereafter I received a letter from home stating the Mrs. Wheatley was gravely ill. It contained orders for me to return home to look after her.
Needless to say I was very disappointed. Many of the friends I had made in London wanted me to stay long enough for my book to get published.
I had set foot in England in June of 1773. About a month later I was on a ship returning home.
