This trip across the Atlantic Ocean was markedly different from the one I made in 1761. Then I was a small helpless child. I had been savagely kidnapped back then and suffered under harsh conditions. Later to be sold into bondage. Now I was about 19 years old, a recognized poet escorted by prominent businessman, and had prominent Londoners waiting for my arrival.
I was well received in London, even though my book had not yet been published. I was able to meet some famous people. Among them were the Earl of Dartmouth (whom the university in Boston was named after) and the famous American, Benjamin Franklin. Mr. Franklin and I held a conversation about Evangelist George Whitefield whom we both admired.
One of my highpoints was when the city's mayor presented me with a copy of Paradise Lost by one of my favorite poets, John Milton.
Naturally I wrote to my friend, Obour, about the wonderful time I was having.
