This was "pre-revolutionary times." About a month after young Christopher was shot another incident occurred. On March 5, 1770 there was a violent confrontation between some men and boys who were throwing snowballs at a British agent. A little later, about 20 British soldiers joined him.
Soon the British men were facing a hostel crowd of several hundred men. One of them opened fire, then more shots followed. Three men lay dead in the Boston snow. The first person to fall was a run-away slave named Crispus Attucks.
The American colonist called this incident "The Boston Massacre." Outrage followed throughout the colonies. Needless to say, that I was inspired to write a poem about this also.
