Master Dumont stopped them, saying the no slaves would be killed on his property. The Catlins drug Bob off, and Master Dumont followed them. Later I was told that he was alive. But I never saw him again.

I was told after a while later that he was given some other woman to marry. And I was given a man named Thomas to marry.

Thomas was older than me and like my father he had two previous wives. He had run away after his first one was sold away. However, Master Dumont went after him and got him back. His second wife was sold away also, but Thomas chose not to run away any more.

I had six children and stayed with the Dumonts about sixteen years in all.
