One of the most heart tearing stories I heard was of my brother Michael and sister Nancy. They were the ones just before Peter and me.
I must have been about five on that snowy morning. Michael had prepared a fire for Mau-mau Bett. He was pleasantly surprised at the sleigh that pulled up. He was taken and placed into it.
When he saw Nancy locked down, he panicked and ran in the house. He hid under the bed. But that did him no go at all. They just came and got him, put him back in the sleigh and drove off with both of them.
My mother and father were very despondent due to the lost of their loved ones. They felt very sad because they could not even protect their own children.
