In time I got used to my new home. When you have no choice, you learn to adjust. There wasn't much work for small children to do except for what work there was to be found around the yard. I learned to enjoy things in my surroundings like the old windmill, a large sailboat in the nearby river, and the other children I had to play with. The older slaves were called aunt and uncle. This was done out of respect by the younger slaves for their elders.
