I went to the post office daily, not that I was expecting any mail, but because of the magazines in the store.
I can remember one tremendous bargain Mr. Morgan made with me. It was one morning in 1882, my second year in high school. I saw in store's window a gorgeous edition of Macaulay's History of England. I was a five-volume set, and I really wanted it. But I could not afford it.
Mr. Morgan suggested that I could pay for it in installments. This was an unusual offer back then, and I seized upon it. For five months I paid 25 cents a week from the wages I received from my small jobs. That Christmas I took my precious purchase home.
