And when slavery was over they all came back to the old McLeod place where my father was. They brought with them all of the grandchildren that my mother and father had never seen and had a family reunion.
Even after slavery my mother continued to cook for the Wilsons. After awhile she had saved enough money to buy five acres of land from them.
My father and brothers built the cabin on that land in which I was born.
